In the name of god amen
I Henry Buxton of Bradborne in the County of Derby get being
weak and sick in body but of good and perfect memory praised
be to gog therefore do make this my last will in manner and form
following. First and principally I bequeath my soul unto the hand
of Almighty God my Creator entrusting that in and through the
merits and ?????? of Jesus Christ my saviour to receive pardon
of all my sine and everlasting life and for my body I desire in may
bee decently interred in the parish church as Bradbourne amongst
my ancestors at the discretion of my loveing wife and my executor here
afternamed. I do hereby give and bequeath unto Anne my
loving wife the moyety or one half of all my household goods as beds
bedsteads curtaynes vallences Feather beds sheets pillows bolsters or and
the half of all the table clothes napkins towels and all other sorts of lyn-
nen of what kind or nature soever. And the one halfe of all the ?????
b????? or the other moyety I give unto my brother [German] I give unto Mary [Shel-]
[merdine] one silver [.....] and to [Anne] my wife all the rest of my estate
whatsoever. I give unto German Buxton my brother my watch and
gold ring I give devise and bequeath unto my cousin Mary [Shelmer-]
[dyne] one close or parcell of Ground called the ??????? and one meadow
lying above the same towards the Cottages being parcell of the [new:-]
[breakes] And alsoe one close called the Rylands within Bradburne from
the day of my death unto the full end and terme of seaven yeares from
?????? next following fully to be [compleate] and [orderd] Provided all
?????? that of my said brother German Buxton shall within six monthes
next after my death pay or cause to be paid unto the said mary [Shelmerdine]
the fulle somme of one hundred pounds of current English money then my
mynd and will is that this devise unto the said Mary [Shelmerdine]
touching the said lands and closes to be voyd and of ???? [offerd] But if
my said Brother German fails or make default of paying the said
money then my mind and will is that the said Mary [Shelmerdine]
doe hold and enjoy the said Closes and grounds and receive the rents
????? and proffitts thereofto her owne use during the said seaven years
aforesaid. I give unto my cousin [Trickett] 20s to preach at my death and
[20s] to buy him a gold ring. And [whereas] I do ????? and [unto] my mo-
ther Wigley of Wirksworth the somme of one hundred pounds And
unto my Cousin [Peg] of [Branefield] one hundred pounds And unto [Mr]
[Thomas] [Youle] of Derby sixty pounds to be paid him in three years
every midsommer pay twenty pounds I doe give devise and bequeath
unto my brother German Buxton all my houses lands tenements &
hereditaments in Bradburne And all my house lands tenements
and hereditaments in Brassington And the [Mandate] within
Heathcote To him the said German and to his heirs forever
upon this condicon that he shall well and truely pay all the debts &
legacies mentioned and expressed in this my last will and testament
as the come to bee particularly and ?????????ly due I doe further give
unto [Anne] my wife all her Close and apparrell whatsoever, and alsoe
two Cowes and my [Byy] [Nugge] and one ?????? Saddle and one [Park]
sadle and G??thes and one bridle. And I doe hereby ordayne and make my
loveing brother German Buxton sole executor of this my said last will &
testament revoking and making voyd all wills by me formerley made
Hen. Buxton signed sealed and published the nyneteenth day of March
in the nyneteenth yeare of King Charles the second Anno Domini
1666 in the presence of Samuell [Trickett] [William] Mellor Francis
