Job was born in Tideswell about 1770, the son of Samuel and Grace (1). He had a elder brother Joseph (2), and his sister Nancy was born in 1772 (3), but she only lived till 1786 (4). He initially became a lead miner like the majority of his family before him (5).
He married Hannah Lomas in Tideswell church on 27th June 1791 (5), and their eldest son Henry was born about 6 months later (6). They had a daughter Mary in 1793 (7), then another son Joseph in 1795 (8), but he died around his second birthday (9). Next came three more daughters - Ann in 1797 (10), Martha in 1799 (11) and Hannah in 1802 (12). Job's mother died in the spring of 1803 (13), then he had two more sons - Samuel later that year (14), and Joseph in 1805 (15). His father died in 1806 (16), and Job and his brother Joseph inherited everything (17). His youngest children were two more daughters - Emmet in 1807 (18), and finally Sally in 1809 (19). His wife died in 1811 (20). Nothing else is known of Job until the 1841 census (21), by which time he was a farmer living in Town End with his unmarried son Henry, and his daughter Emmet/Emmma and her husband and children. He died of dropsy on 12th October 1842, aged 73 (22), and was buried in Tideswell 3 days later (23).Brief details of his children:
