Joseph Redfearn
1720 - 1781
Joseph was born in Abney in 1720, the eldest son of Robert and Maria (1). His sister Elizabeth was born in 1723 (2), and his brother William was probably born next (3). His sister Margaret was born in 1727 (4), and finally his brother Nicholas in 1730 (5). His brother William died the following year (6).
He married Sarah Barker on 16th November 1743 (7), and their eldest son Joseph was born just under a year later (8). Their youngest son Samuel was born in 1746 (9).
Joseph's mother died in 1755 (10), and his father three years later (11).
He wrote his will in December 1780 (12), perhaps all to aware of his own mortality following the death of his eldest son the year before (13), and his wife the month before (14). He lived for another 8 months, dying in August 1781 (15).
Brief details of his children:
- Joseph has his own page.
- Samuel was born in Abney in 1746. He married Mary Hill, 19 years his junior, in 1785 and they spent the rest of their lives in Abney. They did not have any children. Samuel died in 1834.

- No baptism is recorded for William - his existence is only known from his burial in 1731 (6). As there was a fairly length gap between the baptisms of Elizabeth (2) and Margaret (4), he seems most likely to have been born between them.
