Thomas Knightly

died 1576

Nothing is known of Thomas until, in 1572 he appears in the parish register of Youlgreave when his daughter Katherine was baptised ⁽¹⁾. He had another daughter, Clemens, in 1575 ⁽²⁾.

He died the following year, and was buried in Youlgreave on 29th April 1576, at which time he was said to have been a husbandman ⁽³⁾.

The only other mention of a Knightly in the parish register, is the marriage of Elizabeth in June 1577 ⁽⁴⁾, so it seems very likely that Thomas moved to Youlgreave from elsewhere when already married, and possible that Elizabeth was his widow.

• Katherine was born in Youlgreave in about 1572, and died there, unmarried, in 1599.
