John Heathcote

1700-1783

John was born in Flagg in 1700 ⁽¹⁾, the son of Robert and Rebecca. He had a sister Mary three years his senior ⁽²⁾. Its not clear what younger siblings he had ⁽²⁾, except for a brother Robert who was born when he was 14 ⁽³⁾.

John's father died in 1730 ⁽⁴⁾, and then John married a woman called Jane soon afterwards, probably around 1732. Their first child, Ann, was born in 1733 ⁽⁵⁾. Another daughter, Mary, was born in 1736 ⁽⁶⁾, then Sarah in 1737 ⁽⁷⁾ (but she only lived for a couple of days ⁽⁸⁾), and Lydia in 1738 ⁽⁹⁾ (but she died before she was 3 ⁽¹⁰⁾). Having had four daughters, they next proceeded to have four sons - their eldest was John, born in 1742 ⁽¹¹⁾. He was followed by Joseph in 1745 ⁽¹²⁾, then Robert in 1750 ⁽¹³⁾, and finally George in 1752 ⁽¹⁴⁾.

John died in 1783, and was buried in Chelmorton on 24th October ⁽¹⁵⁾.

• Anne was born in 1733 in Flagg. Nothing more is known of her.
• Mary was born in 1736 in Flagg. Nothing more is known of her
• Sarah was born in Flagg in 1737. She only lived for a couple of days.
• Lydia was born in 1738 in Flagg. She died aged two.
• John was born in Flagg in 1742. He died there is 1768. He is not known to have married.
• Joseph was born in Flagg in 1745. He married Ann Bestwicke in 1765, and they had a son George, and two daughters, Martha and Jane. He died in 1768.
• Robert has his own page.
• George was born in Flagg in 1752. Nothing more is known of him.
