ROUGH DRAFT
Mary was born in Tideswell in June 1837, the only child of Joseph and Ann Gilbert (1). During her early life the family lived with her mother's parents on Manchester Road (2), before moving to Back Lane (3).
On 21st April 1856, whilst already heavily pregnant, she married George Jackson at St John the Baptist's in Tideswell (4), and he moved in with her and her parents (6). Their first son, Leonard, was born just 3 months later (5). followed by Clement, two years after that (5), then a daughter Martha Ann in December 1860 (5). All of their first three children were baptised at the same time, in January 1861 (5). Her next son, Joseph, was born in 1863 (7), followed by a daughter Mary Elizabeth in 1865 (8).
Her father died in 1866 (9). Her next son was George, born in 1868 (10), then came another daughter, Sarah Jane, in 1870 (11). Her mother died in 1874 (12), then later the same year she had another son, John (14). Two years later her daughter Mary Elizabeth died (15). She had another daughter, Charity Elizabeth, the next year (16), but she died before reaching her first birthday (17). A few months before Leonard, Mary's eldest son, also died (18). Her youngest daughter, Delilah was born in 1879 (19), then finally her youngest son, Harry, was born in 1881 (21)(22), by which time the family had moved to Town End (20).
Mary died on 12th August 1886, aged 49 (23), and was buried 3 days later (24). Her husband survived her by nearly 19 years (25).
