ROUGH WORKING DRAFT - siblings' details, parents' and wife's deaths to be added
George was born in Chapel en le Frith in 1785, the son of Edward and Martha, and baptised there on 11th March (AAA). (Siblings, and parent's deaths still to be confirmed). He initially followed his father into the butchery trade (BBB).
He married Jane Hall on 25th November 1806 at St Thomas a Becket's in Chapel (BBB), and they initially settled there, where their first child, John, was born the following August (CCC).
Sometime over the next couple of years they moved to Little Hucklow (DDD), where Jane originally came from (EEE), and George gave up butchery to work as a labourer (VARIOUS). Their next son, George, was born there towards the end of 1809 (DDD). Unfortunately he died the following summer (FFF). They had a daughter Martha in 1812 (GGG), then another son, Edward, in 1814 (HHH), but Edward only lived for about a year (III). A aon William followed in 1816 (JJJ), then their youngest daughter Hannah in 1821 (KKK), and finally, the youngest son, Thomas, was born in 1823 (LLL). The youngest daughter, Hannah, died in 1829 (MMM).
George died in Little Hucklow in 1835, aged 50, and was buried in Hope on 21st September (NNN).
Brief details of his children:
- John has his own page.
- George was born in Little Hucklow in 1809, and died there the following year.
- Martha was born in Little Hucklow in 1812, and for some reason appears to have been baptised twice, first in Tideswell, then a month later in Hope. However no later menion of her has been found, so I suspct the Hope baptism entry may possibly be an error, and that she was actually buried there.
- Edward was born in Little Hucklow in 1814, and died there about a year later.
- William was born in Little Hucklow in 1816. He married Elizabeth Chapman, also from Little Hucklow, in 1842, and they settled in their homw village for the rest of their lives. They had three daughters - Mary, Martha and Hannah, then two sons, Jospeh and George. Elizabeth died in 1888, whilst lived to the age of 87, dying in 1904, having been a lead miner all his life.
- Hannah was born in Little Hucklow in 1821, and may have died there in 1829.
- Thomas was born in Little Huckow in 1823. He married a woman called Ann (possibly Ann Linguard), and they settled in Tideswell, where they had sons William and George, and daughters Harriet, Hannah and Elizabeth. Thomas died in 1890 having been a lead miner all his life, and Ann survived him for 8 years.

Martha was apparently baptised twice, because the Parish Register of St Peter's, Hope (transcript by Val Neal) also includes the entry:
Baptised Martha Jackson, daughter of George & Jane Jackson of Little Hucklow, 14/9/1812
Double check that the Hope entry wasn't her burial
